Catalina Island: Part 1

For our first wedding anniversary, we went on a weekend getaway to Catalina Island. Off the coast of Southern California, Catalina Island is just 22 miles away from Los Angeles...about an hour of ferry ride away...but it felt as if we were visiting somewhere much further away from home.

It's a very quaint town -- to paint a picture, there was only one Vons (grocery store), one movie theater (showings are only at 7:30pm every day),  tourists and locals alike drive around the island on golf carts, and most of the stores open at 11am but close around 3 to 5pm on the weekends. A lot of stores have the "Sorry we're open" sign -- most likely because they'd rather be laying out on the beach or enjoying other water sports like kayaking/snorkeling!

My husband and I spent our weekend at a very cute and polished bed & breakfast {more photos later}. It was so nice to wake up a little later than usual and have someone bring us breakfast into our room. We even borrowed a few dvds from them (The Theory of Everything and Her). We walked over to the beach area and sunbathed for a bit too. I'd say it was a home away from home. We had a lovely time :)

Part 2 will be posted shortly... :)
